Favourite Squeeze single?
I know they're from Deptford, so are naturally scum, but the've done some amazing songs over the years:

- Take me, I'm yours
- Goodbye Girl
- Cool for cats
- Up the junction
- Slap & tickle
- Another nail in my heart
- Pulling mussels from the shell
- Tempted

What's yours, cunts?

Some fantastic place. They have made so many great songs but this is my favourite, very sad song when you realise it was written about a friend of the band who died at a very young age.

Has to be 'Tempted' but Tillbrook and Difford have written so many great songs it seems a shame to choose one.

Far Post 1:18 Sun Oct 18 They were in Southend last week?? FFS!

"She gave birth to a daughter
Within a year a walker
She looked just like her mother
If there could be another"

Loved those lines.

Their lyrics are mind blowing. Remind me of a poem I wrote as a child.

At the weekend I went to the zoo
And when I got there I saw a gnu.

Re: Favourite Squeeze single?
Saw them last week in Southend. All the classics with some of the new stuff - brilliant.

Up the junction would be my favourite followed by pulling muscles from a shell and labelled with love.

I didn't realise they're touring. In Oxford on 20 Oct and doing an acoustic tour in the states.

I think you may have missed out Bernie Taupin (lyrics) and Elton John (music) from that list....

The Hourglass chorus is excellent:

Take it to the bridge, throw it overboard
See if it can swim back up to the shore
No one's in the house, everyone is out
All the lights are on and the blinds are down

Re: Favourite Squeeze single?
DIfford and Tilbrook were a strange force.

Difford wrote words. Gave them to Tilbrook to turn into songs.

Stephen Morrissey and Johnny Marr worked likewise.

Hal David and Burt Bacharach also.

Result? Three of the greatest "duo" songwriters in the popular music canon.

Lennon/McCartney and Jagger/Richards never had such drawn lines.

Me neither Eddie. Is that on the doc?

RAF Hammer 12:39 Wed Oct 14
Re: Favourite Squeeze single?
Just watched the beginning of the doc and saw 'Glenn Miller' too. Very strange these artistic types.

Horrible - Some of those might be worth something if they're in good nick.
